Former house of the guardian of the Grand Bassin - emblematic place of the Canal du Midi
Sophia, the Director of the establishment is the winner of a call for projects to occupy this building on the edge of the Canal du Midi for an economic activity.
The keys to the house were handed over on 28.04.2018.
This house had been abandoned for 2 years. It is part of the architecture of the Canal du Midi, property of the French State which has delegated management to Voies Navigables de France (which also manages the Canal du Midi).
To operate the house and its surroundings until 2036, a company was created. Huge human (family/friends) and financial resources have been implemented to bring the building back to life. The exteriors have been created (car parking, garden),...
Atground floor, were the caretaker's office (current Mauzac room) as well as the garages. Behind the current entrance door, a large telephone was connected to the locks so that the keeper gave his orders to the lock keepers.
At thestage, there was the dwelling of the caretaker's family: kitchen (current saffron bedroom), living room and dining room (current pastel and PP Riquet bedrooms) as well as the bedrooms (current poppy bedroom and private part)._cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
The attic has been fitted out to store all the linen necessary for the proper functioning of the house.

NO PLASTIC = SAVE PLANET
The trash can in the room does not have a plastic bag. Which means less waste in nature. It is cleaned and disinfected after each rental. Paper bags are available to customers.
As a garbage bag for the general operation of the house, we reuse the paper bags of our baker.
UAE
Castelnaudary water is of good quality. We do not offer plastic water bottles in the rooms.
CHICKENS(Lucette, Suzanne, Baptistine) / CAT (Merlin) / Gégé the HEDGEHOG, SQUIRRELS and other canal fauna
The establishment works as zero waste as possible, with "homemade" or local artisanal products, recycling of food waste by the animals of the house.
LAUNDRY
Maintenance: The bed linen is managed in ESAT by people with mental disabilities. The bathroom linen is washed at home with ash detergent that we manufacture (0 nitrate).
Recycling: The sheets in which you sleep are recycled into paper by our partner Le Moulin de Brousses et Villaret located 40 km from the house.
BREAKFASTS
All the products offered are local participating in the fair remuneration of farmers. The breakfast bread is made in Castelnaudary
